BUDERIM
CONCERT BAND
Play. Listen. Enjoy.
BCB Founder Barry Rodgers
Who We Are
The Buderim Concert Band was established by Barry Rodgers in 1998 and was affiliated with the Buderim War Memorial Community Association. Its very first performance was on Anzac Day in 1998.
The band comprises around 35 players, from all walks of life, and ages ranging from teens to the 80s. Under Musical Director, Peter Blyth, we provide entertainment at charity and fundraising events, local festivals, and at retirement villages. We have ongoing commitments to the Anzac Dawn Service at Cotton Tree and Mudjimba. We also play free concerts at the Buderim Sound Shell and at local markets on the Sunshine Coast. Our repertoire includes movie and pop medleys, light jazz, Australian popular music, marches, and classical pieces.
The band is always on the lookout for enthusiastic amateur talent. We practise each Monday evening at 7 pm, at the Band Hall at 3 Daniel St, Nambour. Please feel free to talk to any of the band members if you are interested. All are welcome! Check us out on Facebook and on our website, www.buderimconcertband.com.

Join Us
You can email us at secretary@buderimconcertband.com or leave a message on our Facebook page. Please feel free to ask any committee member if you have any questions about the band.
Instrument Hire
The band has a small number of instruments available for hire, including oboe, tuba, piccolo, and clarinet, for players who do not currently have their own. The cost of hire is $100 per year, or $10 per month.
Membership Fees
You may play for up to 4 weeks as a guest player to give you the opportunity to decide if the band is for you, after which you will be asked to join the band as a full member. Our treasurer will provide a Membership Form after 4 weeks. Full membership is $200 per calendar year, or a pro-rata amount for part of a year. Family fees are $300, and concession fees are $150 per year.
All full members pay a $5-per-week rehearsal fee. This charge covers the services of our musical director. Players pay this charge only for the weeks they attend rehearsal. The $5 can be paid in cash on the night or by direct debit to the band account. Some players chose to pay a block payment for several weeks in advance. You will also need to sign the weekly register for insurance and attendance records. The register and a container for money collection will be on the desk near the conductor’s position.
Band Uniform
Band performance uniform consists of a black band shirt (short-sleeved polo shirts available for outdoor performances) with black trousers or a skirt and black shoes. Long-sleeved band shirts may be purchased from James Moir (Flute). Current cost is $45.00. Band hats and ladies’ scarves are provided on concert days.
Rehearsal Venue
We meet every Monday at the Sunshine Brass Hall, 3 Daniel Street, Nambour. Set up is at 6:45 pm for a 7:00 pm start. We rehearse until a little before 9:00 pm, with snacks available after rehearsal.
Donations, Sponsors & Grants
In April 2011, the Australian Tax Office confirmed Buderim Concert Band's endorsement as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) organisation. In 2023, the Band became a Registered Charity in Australia. This means that the Buderim Concert Band Inc is able to receive monetary gifts, which are tax-deductible to donors. So, for anyone wishing to support the arts, our DGR status provides significant tax savings.

Donations can be made by Direct Credit to the Band account. Please quote "DGR Donation" and your name and address for receipt purposes.
